Germany Ė finds unauthorised genetically modified (Bt63) rice noodles

On 2 February 2011, the German authorities notified the EUís RASFF that it had identified unauthorised Bt63 rice from China in vermicelli noodles. The product was withdrawn from the market. For more details see RASFF No. 2011.0130.

Then on 2 March 2011, a second notification was made that unauthorised genetically modified rice Bt63 had again been indentified in noodles imported from China via the Netherlands. For more details see RASFF No. 2011.0280.

On 15 June 2011, a third notification was made that rice noodles imported from China via the Netherlands contained unauthorised GM Bt63 rice. The products were withdrawn from the market. For more details see RASFF No. 2011.0778

On 3 August, a forth notification was made after BT63 was found to be contaminating rice vermicelli noodles imported from China via Hong Kong. The noodles are thought to have also been distributed to Denmark and Switzerland. For more details see RASFF No. 2011.1050

A final notification for 2011 was made on 15 December when the German authorities notified the EUís RASFF that it had identified BT63 in rice noodles imported from China via Sweden. For more details see RASFF No. 2011.1853
