Greece – Unauthorised maize found in ‘Golden Griddle Syrup’ from USA.
3 February 2010, the Greek authorities notified the EU’s RASFF system that it had identified unauthorised genetically modified maize in “Golden Griddle Syrup” from the United States. The product was rejected following border inspections.
The notification did not state which specific GM maize line had caused the contamination. See RASFF No 2010.AFD for further details.
*The Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) is used by the EU Member States, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Switzerland. It was put in place to provide food and feed control authorities with a tool to exchange information about measures taken responding to serious risks detected in relation to food or feed.
