Sweden – Bt63 rice in vermicelli from Hong Kong.
On 16 June 2009, the Swedish authorities notified the other EU member states that it had identified unauthorised Bt63 rice in fine rice vermicelli that had been imported into the EU from Hong Kong via the Netherlands. The rice is believed to have been distributed to; Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Moldova, Republic Of, Netherlands, Sweden and Austria (RASSF No 2009.0781).
Then on 26 October 2009, the Swedish authorities made another notification stating rice vermicelli imported from China contained 0.002% Bt63 rice (RASFF No 2009.1435).

*The Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) is used by the EU Member States, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Switzerland. It was put in place to provide food and feed control authorities with an effective tool to exchange information about measures taken responding to serious risks detected in relation to food or feed.
