Romania Wide spread illegal growing of Roundup Ready soy.

Following from the discovery in 2005, that many farmers in Romania were growing the genetically modified, herbicide tolerant Roundup Ready soy illegally, Greenpeace carried out further tests and found another three sites illegally growing the GM crop.

Under Romanian laws, farmers have to inform the Ministry of Agriculture when they are growing GM soybeans. This registration usually takes place when farmers buy their seeds but many farmers are now keeping seed to resow and a black market is in operation.
