UK - unauthorised GM rice from the USA reported

During September to November 2006, the UK authorities made 9 separate notifications of the EU and its Member States that it had identified unauthorised GM rice from the USA.

However, prior to these notifications on 17th September 2006, Friends of the Earth Europe issued a press release stating LLRICE601 had been found in two samples of rice from the store Morrisons - the fourth largest supermarket chain in the UK, with nine million customers a week.
