About the register
This GM register contains details of:
- contamination incidents – where food, feed or a
related wild species have been found to contain
unintended GM material from a GM crop or other organism
- illegal plantings or releases of GM organisms –
when an unauthorised planting or other release into the
environment or food chain has
taken place
- negative agricultural side-effects – when there has been a report
of agricultural problems arising from the GM organism and how it is managed
For each of these types of events, the register can
be searched using the drop-down pick lists in panel
on the right hand side of every page. You can search
by country or region and year that the incident was
first reported. The type of GM crop that caused the
contamination and what has been contaminated, such as
food or feed, can also be used to search the register.
If you leave the search as 'your choice/all', it shows all
incidents in the group. Leaving all choice buttons at 'your choice/all',
shows all incidents in the register.
Once you have decided what search you want to make and
clicked on the search button, a list with a summary of
the numbers of incidents found and short details of
each case will be displayed. By clicking on each
entry, the full details will be shown including
references (which are not available on the internet)
and links to further information. If there are any
GeneWatch UK or Greenpeace documents that are directly
relevant to the case,
these are available via the 'Download' facility in the left
hand column.
GeneWatch UK and Greenpeace have made every effort
to ensure the accuracy of the register and to give
details of sources, but cannot guarantee this. Where
there is known to be doubt or dispute about a report,
this will be indicated in the main entry for that
incident.
